Ergonamics, a Welsh design company, has made a significant contribution to Sitag, a Swiss office furniture manufacturer, winning the prestigious Red Dot Design Award, for their chair, Sitagwave.
Ergonamics’ intelligent seat back allows the sitter to be continuously supported, to provide comfort and healthy freedom of movement with dynamic ergonomics.
Ergonamics’ intelligent seat back has contributed to the Sitagwave’s innovation and functionality of design features that the judging panel look for within the product design category.
The award is a seal of quality and a label for excellent design that is internationally recognised.
The Red Dot Award stands for belonging to the best in design and business and is the largest and most renowned design competition in the world. Each year an international jury made up of renowned designers and design experts, and this year they have reviewed and evaluated over 11,000 submissions from 61 countries.
Nick Williams of Ergonamics, is currently in discussions with overseas car seat and train seat manufacturers to develop partnerships and explore, not only the potential use of the dynamic ergonomics that the innovation offers, but also additional benefits such as product weight reduction, and therefore fuel efficiencies, in conjunction with reduced seat manufacturing costs.
Clinical, austere and impersonal: hospitals and healthcare buildings are not always welcoming. But Welsh architect Richard Golledge believes such places can be uplifting through building design.
